£1.1bn scheme set to revolutionise Manchester Mayfield area

2019 02 13 Mayfield main

The Manchester Mayfield area is gearing up for a £1.1bn scheme to help transform the area into a new city centre community and green space.

Located just beyond Piccadilly Station, the Mayfield area has long been a disused area of the city. The Mayfield Station was last used as a station in 1986, with the space since being used as a creative events venue for the Manchester International Festival.

After months of planning and conceptualising the idea, developer U+I have presented the plans to regenerate the area and help make the best use of this space. Expected to take 10 years to complete, the development will feature new commercial and retail space, hotel accommodation and over 1,350 homes for residents in the area.

The centrepiece of the development, situated on the banks of the River Medlock, will be a 6.5-acre communal park. This will be the city’s first new green space in over a century and promises to become a hub for its residents and a key Manchester destination.

Located less than a 10 minute walk away from the Mayfield area, Oxygen is in a great location to benefit from the £1.1bn scheme. With this Mayfield development estimated to bring some 10,000 new jobs to the area, Oxygen residents will be in an excellent location to benefit from these new employment opportunities.

All of this development in the surrounding area presents a great opportunity for investors. With Oxygen situated so close by, demand for residential space near to the Mayfield scheme is only set to increase. At less than 10 minutes away from the excitement and opportunity of this new Mayfield development, with all of the accessibility and convenience of the city centre, Oxygen couldn’t be in a better location.
